Application took about 6 weeks from submission to funds disbursement. They needed proof of income, bank statements, mortgage statement, and documentation of the hardship (medical bills in my case). My HUD counselor at Lutheran Social Service prepared the entire application. The hardest part was gathering the documents -- the counselor handled everything else. Funds went directly to the servicer so I never had to manage the money.
