Silver Oak Cabernet Napa
Silver Oak Winery, also known as Silver Oak Cellars, is known for one thing: its Cabernet Sauvignon.
If you enjoy Cabernet Sauvignon, you will love Silver Oak Cellars. They are famous for this wine. The winemaker, Dan Baron, ages the wine for three years in oak barrels and two years in the bottle before selling it. These wines age nicely for about another 15 years.
Silver Oak Cellars has two winery sites. One is located in Napa Valley, in the Oakville area. It is very close to the Silverado Trail.
The winery was completely rebuilt after a fire destroyed the cellar. The new building looks just like the original.
The other Silver Oak Cellars is located in Alexander Valley, in Sonoma County. The tasting room here is located in the Gothic-style winery, complete with super high ceilings, stone walls and high windows.
It is definitely worth a trip to taste the new releases here. This is usually on the first Saturday in February.
If you can't make it then, there are several tours available at this Sonoma County winery. The most comprehensive is the 45 minute long tour, followed by a tasting of six different vintages. This option is $40 per person. Cabernet lovers rejoice!
There are other tours and tastings available for about $10 as well.
If you plan to visit the Napa Valley winery location, tours and tastings here are $20. If you can visit between Monday - Thursday at 2PM, you can take part in the Silver Oak Cellars wine and food pairing for $45.
Plan ahead. This winery can be very crowded on the weekends, so if you are going with a group larger than eight people, please call ahead to make an appointment.
The Silver Oak Winery is also closed on some holidays.
