Welcome to the big leagues. Bring out your veal, duck, and filet mignon for Chateau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Made in the same style as a left bank Bordeaux, Ste. Michelle blends their Cabernet with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and sometimes even dashes of Syrah and Grenache. This makes for a well rounded wine – the blend is slightly different each vintage, hand crafted based on what the vineyards gave the winemaker to work with. What you get is a concentrated, complex fruit profile. A year in oak barrels (⅓ new oak) lend both a sturdy scaffolding and some added complexity of flavor. Worth every penny.
