UTICA, New York - President Barack Obama's job approval remains steady at 48% after several weeks of strong partisan rhetoric on healthcare and budget issues, a new Zogby Interactive poll shows.
The Zogby Interactive survey of 2,847 likely voters nationwide also found that while the President's job performance rating among Democrats decreased slightly, support among political independents inched upward. The survey was conducted Mar. 2 through Mar. 4, 2010 and carries a margin of error of +/- 1.8 percentage points.
The table below shows Obama's job approval on Zogby Interactive polls since August 21.

Pollster John Zogby: "As candidates and commentators begin to look at the November elections and beyond to 2012, we must begin looking at the President's support among the 18-30 year old demographic. While a 55% approval rating among that group is above average, when compared with the 2008 campaign when he won the age group nearly 2-to-1, it's anemic, particularly for a Democrat. According to Newsweek, less than half of 18-30 year olds are currently employed, down nearly 10 percentage points from 2006, and if that doesn't change soon, one has to wonder - will they show up in November?"
This latest survey shows Obama's job approval ratings have held steady among liberals and First GlobalsTM (likely voters age 18-30). The table below compares Obama's approval among some of these groups across the ten most recent job approval surveys.

Overwhelming majorities of both Republicans (92%) and conservatives (95%) continue to say they disapprove of Obama's job performance. In this latest survey, just 7% of Republicans and 5% of conservatives indicated they somewhat or strongly approve of Obama's performance.

This interactive survey, conducted by Zogby International Mar. 2 through Mar. 4, 2010, has a sample size of 2,847 likely voters nationwide. A sampling of Zogby International's online panel, which is representative of the adult population of the U.S., was invited to participate. Slight weights were added to region, party, age, race, religion, gender and education to more accurately reflect the population. The margin of error is +/- 1.8 percentage points. Margins of error are higher in sub-groups.
