Public Sector Research
For the last 15 years, Zogby International has worked with the public sector to their needs. These clients include Government Agencies, Regulated Industries, School Districts, and Educational Institutions.
Zogby International research has helped these clients determine public needs and expectations on a variety of subjects.
Selected case studies:
- A political science department of a prestigious, private four-year college in the Northeast was interested in measuring the depth of racism, if any, among young adults nationwide. We conducted a survey of 18-29 year olds across the country on the subject. The ensuing results created a firestorm of controversy and debate across the country about what the findings meant and how they applied to life in the late 20th century.
- A major electric utility company in the Northeast wanted to measure their consumers' attitudes and preferences regarding electricity and the utility industry. We conducted two surveys a number of months apart to track changes in consumers' attitudes. The company has used the information to educate the public about the efficient use and benefits of electricity.
- The transportation authority for a major Northeast city wanted to evaluate the public's use of public transportation, commuting habits, and other traffic and transportation related issues. We conducted a region-wide, then statewide study of commuters. The transportation authority used the information to improve services and increase use of public transportation.
- One of the largest public utility companies in Alaska wanted to test the public's reaction to a proposed merger. We conducted a survey of residents in the merger area and provided the company with a detailed report. Using the report, the company set into motion plans for a merger that would benefit both the companies and the clients.
- Two neighboring school districts wanted to explore the feasibility of merging their two districts. We surveyed residents in both communities about support or opposition to the merger and what the positive and negative impacts would be. The school districts use the results of the survey to design a message that would educate the public about the benefits of a merger.
