Send More U.S. Students Abroad
More international exchange is what young Americans need and want.
As much as the Internet and telecommunications now link the world, these are no substitute for real human interaction and submersion into other cultures. The U.S. is lagging in the person-to-person contact we need to maintain our economic and political standing in the world.
This is very notable in regard to international student exchange. I'm going to share with you much of the information I gave on May 6 to a seminar of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Most of the data provided was from the Institute for International Education, the Association of International Educators and Zogby International research.
