Top Question Tuesday 8/18/09
Welcome to this week’s edition of Top Question Tuesday. Last week’s winning question asked whether you have ever attended a political event you first learned about on the Internet. We’ll put this question on an upcoming interactive survey and blog about the results soon.
This week’s user-submitted survey questions are below. The questions are shortened to save space on our blog post, but these are the basic ideas. 2. Michael Vick was an NFL quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons who was suspended from the NFL and served 19 months jail time for a dog fighting conviction. He was recently released from jail and has been reinstated to the NFL and signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Do you think Michael Vick should be allowed to play again for the NFL due to his dog fighting conviction?
3. Concerning breastfeeding in public and private locations, which of the following statements comes closest to your own opinion?
Statement A: Women should be allowed to breastfeed in any public or private place they are otherwise allowed to be, without covering up
Statement B: Women should be allowed to breastfeed in any public or private place they are otherwise allowed to be, but should be required to cover up
Statement C: Women should be allowed to breastfeed in public or private places but only in special areas designated for privacy such as a woman’s bathroom or nursing room

The questions for 8-19-2009 were good. I voted for the texting/driving question because that practice is dangerous and has contributed to human death or injury. If it had not been for that, I would have voted for the breastfeeding issue as the ultimate decision made in states about that question could have great impact on nursing mothers — who must go out into public to see doctors, grocery stores, parks and playgrounds etc. Lastly, I never would vote for the Vic issue, he is (or at least was) a major sports figure but the ultimate decision regarding that issue will have no serious impact on the quality of human life to the degree that decisions on the other two question could have.
