John Zogby invites you to be part of the The Way We’ll Be

February 13th, 2009

Following the publication of The Way We’ll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream last summer, I’ve been traveling nonstop around the country, seeing and hearing enthusiasm all across the U.S. about the themes in the book – living with less as consumers and citizens, embracing diversity of views and ways of life, looking inward to find spiritual comfort and demanding authenticity from the media, our leaders, and leading institutions.

I’m very excited about this blog because just like the work we already do here at Zogby International, it’s going to welcome ideas and follow trends that are always ahead of the curve. We will continue to uncover and welcome what others don’t see. In this world of market research, we’re now into our 25th year and we’ve become both pioneers and mavericks — and we love that role. We also pride ourselves on being fearless and provocative.

As we embark on this latest endeavor, we will embrace the provocative and as always we will share data and opinions with you. We welcome your input – whether you want to comment on our latest posts, suggest topics for future surveys or even submit a blog post of your own. The blog will also feature excerpts from some of the best opinion leaders in the country about politics, what people are buying, how we live our lives and peering in on how our neighbors live their lives. Join us as together we discover The Way We’ll Be. – John Zogby

    I’ve been on the Zogby survey email list for many years and I enjoy the chance to poll my opinion on matters. Does Mr. Zogby know who we are in the polls by some of the answers we give at the end, sure but who cares. I for one give honest answers when asked and would like to see the results of the polls. After all of these years taking the polls I have yet to see what others think, this would be a nice feature, Mr. Zogby are you listening???

    The problem seemed to be with the question that begged the question of Obama’s CHANGE promise. As I had guessed It was the wrong kind of CHANGE. He headed down the Marxist road as fast as he could. Not down a road that would have left America stronger once more. It bugs me and has brought me to total opposition to any and all of his policies. Those who I know in a radius all appear to have the same attitude.And some of them had voted for him claaing me a lot of dirty names.

    I just took my first Zogby poll, and it was very interesting and it made me think, about how our contry has changed since I was a little girl. I am 68 years of age and our freedom’s are being taken away everyday and the young pple don’t seem to think of it as a problem, as they are being indoctrinated at a vey young age in school.

    I have a a grandchild that use to believe in God, and now he is unsure if God exists. I try and have conversations regarding my belief that there is a God, and if we trust in him he will take care of us, he listens but he has been fed so much garbage at school about the climate growing warmer and our ancestor’s being ape’s that he is totally confused.
    I hope that we will someday go back to being able to express our beliefs and not have to be politically correct. There will always be hateful pple but in trying to stop them we have made it almost impossible to speak our minds without someone saying we are racist, or hateful.

    I’m not sure where I fit in the generation terms as I was born in 1948 so would someone give me the proper label? I have just finished yet another fascinating Zogby survey and await the results. This is the one time I honestly feel my opinions count. I will add some personal opinions as I felt this time the questions were quite generalized and could have had more specific choices for answers. I do not understand when the those who were so vocal in the sixties and seventies, who, when they had an opinion, were so fervent in their belief, who were not afraid to cry in public when our president was assasinated, who, regardless of the color of their skin, marched arm in arm against discrimination and then held tight to each other when Dr. King was killed, who were not afraid to stand up for their country, their family and their God. Where did these people go? Where did this apathy come from? We don’t need violence, we don’t need hatred, we don’t need rioting – what we need is for people to stand up for their God given rights that this country was founded on – the right to free speech, that all men are created equal. Perhaps if our youth could read, write and do basic math functions when they graduate from high school they would be able to understand what is being taken away from them ever so slowly and gradually day by day. We have seen big government bail out the banks – how well did that work? – bail out the auto industry HAH!!! But where is the bail out for the farmers? Who will feed the nation if the farmers are forced out by Free Trade? Who will protect the American peoples from contaminated food products being imported because our own country can’t afford to grow our food? Dairy farmers make less per pound of milk than they did ten years ago. It is cheaper for restaraunts to import rabbits from Canada than for them to be grown and processed in this country. Australian/New Zealand two year old sheep can be imported and sold for lamb but U.S. farmers can only sell 1 year old lamb. Does any of this make sense to anyone? I will leave you all with the plight of some of the farmers in the upper midwest from last year – they planted corn, floods ruined the planting so early interest loans were granted for replacement seed, early snows prevented harvest in the fall so the crop sat under the snow in December. Comes the first of the year and the loan is due, the crop is sitting under the snow and money is needed to order the seed for planting for 2009. Who is going to bail them out? Gotta love Big Government.

    For the first time in my life I thank God that my wife and I have no grandchildren. I’m very concerned about the direction our Country has taken since President Kennedy was killed and especially worried about what is happening to our freedom since President Obama has taken charge of our Country in January. Congress is blindly following him by passing Bills they haven’t read and approving his appointees without adequately questioning them.

    It has come down to the way our country handles the issue of religion and the seperation of church and state. Generation X has over and over needed to question themselves about their beliefs becuase freedom to choose is more important that believing in a God that saves. Teens and children absorb what is on the TV and play multimedia games. They forget to stay in touch with their inner gift of life that gives to all people. With so many broken families, children don’t know where to turn and their hearts become hardened. Researchers, teachers, politicians, and many adults already know this is a fact. For those that believe in a God that saves, laughter and blessings will always beat evil in all forms.

    Please, I would like to know the overall answer figures for the question, Do you consider yourself an American, and then lists several other choices. It is difficult for me to believe that such a question is asked, and that it is seems a discouraging commentary on the America of today. A World War II veteran and retired journalist

    I would like to see a poll pertaining to Americans understanding of socialist globalization. Do Americans understand what the PES is up to? Do Americans understand what Socialists International is up to? Do Americans understand what globalization is. Do Americans understand the UN role in globalization? Are Americans aware that the Democratic party has been and is currently heavily involved in globalization? Do Americans understand the effect of globalization on their country and on their lives?

    Sue you should be enthused since you were born in 1948 as it was a land mark year. Read Jeremiah 24 which applies to Judah, who returned and became the state of Israel 14 May 1948.

    I am aghast at the view of President Obama as a Marxist or socialist. It reveals appalling ignorance about what those two ideologies mean. Our schools are doing an extremely poor job of educating Americans about the rest of the world, the differing political/economic systems and even about capitalism. It’s a shame that our young president’s earnest efforts to solve the serious problems of our country are being defeated by lies, distortion and propoganda that so many people easily believe.

    Why is big government always blamed? What about big agriculture, other big business which is behind the free trade that is not only hurting our industries but also harming the poor in Latin America? The best system in my view is a true entrepreneurship and capitalism (rather than mega companies monopolizing industries) balanced by a government strong enough to monitor and regulate against excesses, fraud, etc. Please stop blaming the government for everything.

    @john smith
    Can you please give specifics on how President Obama can be called a Marxist? What is the definition of Marxism?

    @Johnny
    I agree. It would be interesting to see the results of some of these surveys.

    Karl Marx’s most well known quote is: “From each according to his abilities, to each according to their needs”. Means spreading the wealth around even if you didn’t earn it!

    When he became a true Communist he wrote: “The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all Private Property”!
